Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society had its first ever televised charity
show on Sunday, 16th April. The three-hour show held
at MediaCorp TV and telecast over channel 8
managed to pull in $4 million with just creative fun and entertainment
that warmed the audience heart. The show included the songs and
dance segments, marital arts demonstrations and even Teo Chew
opera.
The charity show was further brightened up with the involvement
of our Mediacorp artistes with their splendid performances. Zoe
Tay and the other MediaCorp artiste including Chen Han Wei, Pan
Ling Ling, Ix Shen put up an impressive bollywood dance in shimmering
Indian Costumes. Fann Wong wowed the audience with her fascinating
solo performance of drawing animals using sands, with her bare
hands.
The show itself was hosted by Quan Yifeng, Guo Liang and Michelle
Chia. The charity show also featured regional acts such as Korean
singer, Hue, Taiwanese duo 2moro, and veteran Hongkong-based balladeer
Jenny Tseng.
The highest number of calls received during the show was Thye
Hua Kwan Chairman, Mr Lee Kim Siang who drew 53,000 calls after
making a heartfelt plea for the donations. And that was not all;
he joined with Ms Ningyu Lingzi, Thye Hua Kwan Charity Ambassador
and Thye Hua Kwan School of Performing Arts, for the duet of the
Charity theme song at the show's finale.
Major sponsors were Chee Hoon Kog Moral Promotion Society, Chee
Hia Kog Moral Society, New Century International, Huang &
Company, Starhub and Akira.
Thye Hua Kwan Charity Show achieved its $4 million target. $1
million will go to the costs of the Show, leaving a balance of
$3 million to be distributed to Ang
Mo Kio Thye Hua Kwan Hospital ($2 million) and our 7 Family Service
and Counselling Service ($1 million).
Any excess amount from the donations will be shared among
10 organisations, including the 4 self-help groups, the Inter-Religious
Organisation, 2 Welfare Centres under Chee Hoon Kog and 3 under
Thye Hua Kwan, in equal share as follows:

6) Redhill and Kaki Bukit Seniors Activity Centres (Chee Hoon

10) Pregnancy Crisis Counselling (THK)
