The Centre for Family Harmony was officially established in July 2006. The centre was set up to work closely with children from divorced or separated families in areas of Supervised Visitation between the children and the separated parent. Besides Supervised Access and Supervised Transfer, the centre also offers Counselling services that are related to issues of access to children. Clients served by the centre are from all walks of life, race, religion and social economic status. The centre also offers group programmes for children and parents, to promote continued bonding and to help improve their relationships.
Parents who are considering divorce and/or separation are strongly encouraged to contact the centre to discuss the impact of divorce on the children.
"Moving Forward with Contact Services"
Purpose of Contact Services:
Separation and divorce can have a powerful impact on the relationship between children and parents. It is therefore imperative to create a safe and neutral environment for children to spend time with their parents.
Vision:
All children are in a safe environment with positive relationships, especially with their parents
Mission:
To prevent, as far as possible, the detrimental effects of parental conflicts on children with the active participation of the parents.
Our objectives are:
- To allow children to have safe and regular contact with the visiting parent in a safe and neutral environment and without being placed in the middle of parental conflict or problems
- To establish stability, safety and a routine place of meeting for the children
- To establish quality contact between both parents with minimal conflict or exchange, and
- To allow children to be themselves without the concern of displeasing the care & control parent
